Charlies vacation to Alice by Liam Blenkinsop

Artist: Liam Blenkinsop
Profession: Motion Artist
Summary: Steve, 40, 3 kids. Always had his own life ambitions but due to piling responsibilities in his early 20’s, he was never able to get further than painting war miniatures in his cramped 2×2 spare office.
Freshly divorced with a new lease on life, he decided to try his hand at miniature creations. Surprisingly, he had a knack for it. Perhaps it was due to watching a large amount of Wallace and Gromit in the past 12 years (again due to children).

With a fresh coffee each morning and the settlement money from selling his half of the family home to his now Ex-wife. He set forward on his own dreams.

Inspired by a childhood toy and his love of fishing, he created a diorama. Something that himself and his children could enjoy. His eldest (14) would help every second weekend, by sifting sand and helping choose the colours of Charlie the Crocodile.

Steve, now happy with his new life partner (the arts) – is looking for another project for himself and his children… perhaps the next will be Outer Space inspired?

My passion for Crocodiles, miniatures, and CG art was at the forefront of this piece & building this scene felt very natural to me. It’s a piece I also dedicate to my beautiful nephew Hamish Alexander Kean. I hope you enjoy my creation & thank you for providing this challenge.

I’d like to show my respect to Arrernte man, Albert Namatjira for the depicted artwork in this piece. I acknowledge & pay my respects to all Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples & their Elders, past, present & future.
